1. About These Terms

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Tapat remittance service, including our website at tapat.com.ph, our Facebook Messenger chatbot, and any related services (collectively, the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to these Terms.

2. Service Description

Tapat is a remittance service that enables users in Hong Kong to send money to recipients in the Philippines. We facilitate money transfers through various delivery methods including GCash, Maya, bank deposits, and cash pickup locations.

Pre-launch notice: Tapat is currently in pre-launch phase. The Service is not yet processing live transactions. Information provided through our chatbot and website, including exchange rates and fees, is illustrative and subject to change before launch.

3. Eligibility

  • You must be at least 18 years old
  • You must be legally present in Hong Kong
  • You must provide accurate identification as required by applicable law
  • You must not use the Service for any unlawful purpose

4. Regulatory Status

Tapat intends to operate as a licensed Money Service Operator (MSO) under Hong Kong's Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorist Financing Ordinance (AMLO, Cap. 615). Our MSO license application is pending. We will not process live transactions until all required licenses are obtained.

5. Exchange Rates and Fees

  • Exchange rates displayed are indicative and may change between the time you initiate and confirm a transaction
  • The final exchange rate will be confirmed before you authorize each transaction
  • Fees will be clearly disclosed before you confirm any transaction
  • We do not charge hidden fees

6. Transaction Limits

Transaction limits apply based on your verification level and applicable Hong Kong regulations. Limits will be communicated through the Service.

7. Your Responsibilities

  • Provide accurate recipient information (incorrect details may result in failed or misdirected transfers)
  • Ensure you have sufficient funds to complete transactions
  • Comply with all applicable laws in Hong Kong and the Philippines
  • Not use the Service for money laundering, terrorism financing, or any illegal activity
  • Keep your account credentials and verification information secure

8. Refunds and Cancellations

If a transaction fails or cannot be completed, we will refund the full amount to your original payment method. Refund processing times depend on your bank or payment provider. Once a transaction has been successfully delivered to the recipient, it cannot be reversed.

9. Intellectual Property

The Tapat name, logo, and all content on our website and Service are our property or used under license. You may not copy, modify, or distribute our content without permission.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by Hong Kong law, Tapat shall not be liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim shall not exceed the fees you paid for the specific transaction giving rise to the claim.

11. Privacy

Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which describes how we collect, use, and protect your personal information.

12. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated through our website or Messenger. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Hong Kong.
